Snowy day at Rogie Falls

Rogie Falls ( Eas Rothagaidh) are near Contin on the A835. With forest walks which are stunning at any time of year, it is certainly a place of of peacefulness.

Rogie Falls are on the course of the Black Water river, and are made up of a series of waterfalls.

It was the end of January 2010 on a very snowy day that I took a jaunt out to the falls. Even with sturdy boots and well wrapped up it was quite chilly, and it was slippy underfoot, as I found out the sore way.

As I made my way to the viewpoint through the snowfall, the noise of the rushing water was getting louder as I drew nearer. Eventually the falls came into view and what a sight!  It felt like a different world altogether, the gentleness of the snow falling and the raging of the water contrasted each other so well. It was with great trepidation I made my way down to the rocks under the bridge to get this shot, but it was well worth it!
