Ben Nevis from Loch Eil

Loch Eil is on the ‘Road to the Isles’ from Fort William to Mallaig. It is a sea loch that feeds into Loch Linnhe near Fort William. The area is surrounded by majestic mountains and has many opportunities to observe wildlife, on land and in the sea. If you are fortunate enough you may even see basking sharks or whales. You may also see Red Deer, buzzards, otters, seals and eagles.

I was staying at the Outward Bound centre here, assisting in supervising a group of children.  It was later in the evening towards the end of our 5 day stay, that I was able to capture this shot of the sun illuminating Ben Nevis as it was starting to set. The stillness of the water not only reflected the clouds and the surrounding scenery but also my inner feelings of calmness after a full day of shepherding children around.
