Durness is situated in the far Northwest of the Highlands, and has many unique geological features, as well as a very colourful history. The area has many glorious sandy beaches, and the seas change from deep blue to amazing hues of green, depending on the weather and time of day.
I have camped frequently at Durness, at different times of the year, but this photograph was shot soon after my interest in photography was really starting to develop in 2008 when I had bought a bridge camera, a Fuji Finepix, S5700, so I could get used to camera settings, functions and feeling comfortable with this “extension” in my hands.
The tide was coming in on this summer evening, and a saunter on the sands camera in hand was a lovely way to chill out after travelling north and setting up our camping area.
