Rannoch Moor

Rannoch Moor ( Mòinteach Raineach/Raithneach) is a  50 square mile peat moor that stretches between Loch Rannoch to Glencoe,  it’s located in Perth and Kinross and Lochaber, Highland, partly northern Argyll and Bute, Scotland.  It is is one of the last remaining wildernesses in Europe.

This one of those days where I decided to just jump in the car with the Canon, and see where I would end up. Although travelling through Glencoe there was a real feeling of desolation, it was tempered with the feelings of awe and wonder.

Having lived in the Highlands all my life, it’s very easy to take for granted the landscapes that are on our doorsteps. I appreciate this scene as it shows the transition between seasons, as the snow is starting to thaw, while still the last of winter clings on in the form of frozen Lochans.
